What I have done in the context of the Internet
1990 - 1994:
- Installed first BBS using a 2-line PCBoard software.
- Excelled as ANSI artist for various friends BBS.
- Developed a NNTP/PCBoard Door (Gateway) using Borland C++.
September 1994
- Acquired my first internet domain: rjeger.com and started to mess around with HTML.
1995 - 1998:
- Designed websites using strict HTML and CSS techniques.
- Developed web-based applications in CGI/Perl 4.
- Engineered backend workflows for magazines (Quark XPress 3.32 <-> HTML processing).
- Produced streaming content for various sites based on VHS and live material.
1999:
- Developed some light solutions using PHP and ASP.
- Designed reuseable web pages and graphical work for various clients (CMS).
- Engineered reuseable e-commerce module (Telekurs/Saferpay) for credit-card based shopping carts.
2000:
- Teached HTML and Photoshopping in the context of creating art work and layout design online.
- Created scripted solutions for setting up/administering IIS server (4.0/5.0).
- Lead instructor for web development (HTML, ASP).
- Learned basics of Lotus Domino development.
- Developed VB6/COM-based web-application for financial reporting.
2001:
- Created scripted solutions for setting up/administering Domino 5.0 server in an enterprise.
- Implemented solutions for legacy server and data migration in large corporate environments.
- Applicant of Microsoft beta-group of Visual Basic .NET.
2002:
- Consulted and Coordinated security upgrades of existing DMZ/Extranets on a network and server basis.
- Established best practices for implementation of web application security devices (Airlock, etc.).
- Managed various projects of different scopes and sizes with a variety of peers.
- Developed a variety of sites using ASP.NET / Framework 1.0.
2003:
- Managed architectural change (soft and hard skills) at client site gearing towards .NET technology.
- Converted a variety of legacy corporate processes as reuseable SOAP/WSDL-based web services.
- Migrated knowledge to the .NET Framework 1.1 and WSE 1.0.
- Further pursued development of web sites using strict HTML & CSS (now being dubbed "accessible web").
- Ported a variety of old software (credit-card processing, XPress -> HTML converter, authentication module) to .NET.
2004:
- Upgraded to WSE 2.0 and active participation in the Beta group for the .NET framework 2.0.
- Consulted and coordinated implementation of Artix ESB as an agile service oriented architecture for a major client.
- Published architectural papers for a common approach in agile software development.
- Developed various web interfaces (SAP, Lotus Domino) for smaller clients.
2005:
- Engineering web-based part of integrated PKI/Directory solution for corporate environments.
- Upgraded and enhanced the Domino (and IIS) administration software that enables consistent and easy administration.
- Member of the Unicode Consortium.
2006:
- Developed a .NET component for a large insurance based in Ireland helping automated real-time data integration from a legacy ERP system into Vignette V5.
- Upgraded to WSE 3.0. Microsoft Beta group for .NET framework 3.0. Consulting in Unicode conformity checks.
- Technical project lead for a major client in developing document synchronization between Microsoft Sharepoint Portal Server and Domino R7 (7.0.1).
- Short assignment as Internet Manager for a private bank in Switzerland helping to move fragmented technology islands to a scaleable, secure Internet transaction data warehouse.
2007:
- More Unicode consultancy.
